A very familiar face in almost all seasons of “American Horror Story,” Sarah Paulson, has booked her latest role and Ryan Murphy is out of sight. This latest project looks like it still has a lot to do with the creeps and jitters that the actress has delivered again and again on the small screen.

Just after winning another award for her stellar performance as Marcia Clark in “The People v. OJ Simpson: American Crime Story,” Paulson has been cast to star in the serial killer drama series “Lost Girls,” writes Variety. Documentary filmmaker Liz Garbus, whose past work includes “What Happened, Miss Simone?,” will be making her narrative-film debut on “Lost Girls,” which is based on investigative reporter Rober Kolker’s 2013 nonfiction book, which shares the same title.

This adaptation was written by Michael Werwie. It is about a mother searching for her missing daughter in Long Island, New York. Later on, she will make a chilling discovery in the woods where finds bodies of four murdered girls. This project will be brought to viewers by Amazon Studios. David Kennedy and Kevin McCormick will be producing through their Langley Park production banner while Pamela Hirsch will be the executive producer.

“Lost Girls” is the latest splashy deal for Amazon Studios as it has also recently bought rights to Woody Allen’s next film for $15 million. It has also nabbed seven movies at the Sundance Film Festival, including “Manchester by the Sea” for $10 million. The streaming goliath appears to be making aggressive moves for feature development in the film space.

Garbus is celebrated as one of the highest-profile documentarians in the film industry. Her recent work includes the buzz-worthy Sundance film “Nothing Left Unsaid: Gloria Vanderbilt & Anderson Cooper,” “Bobby Fischer: Against the World” and “The Farm: Angola, USA.” As for “Lost Girls,” this would mark her first non-documentary feature.

Paulson’s role in “Lost Girls” just happens to be the latest for the busy actress who has her hands full. This, however, does not mean that fans will be missing her from the upcoming season of “American Horror Story,” writes Entertainment Weekly. What is even better is that Paulson will also be co-starring with a roster of Hollywood A-listers in the all-female remake of “Ocean’s Eight.”

“American Horror Story” returns for Season 7 to FX US later this year. It will also air on Channel Eleven in Australia.
