Singapore-born contestant Natalie Ong may have brought the house down on the first live episode of “X Factor Australia," but her mind-blowing performance did not get enough votes to make her stay in the competition.

In a shocking twist, the 15-year-old powerhouse performer was among the four acts eliminated on Monday night. Despite getting a standing ovation from all the judges Guy Sebastian, Iggy Azalea, Mel B and her mentor Adam Lambert, Natalie wasn’t saved by Australian viewers. Instead, the other two contestants under Adam’s Under 22s category became part of this year’s top eight: Amalia Foy and Isaiah Firebrace.

Apart from Natalie, the other acts that got eliminated were Timmy Knowles from Guy’s Over 22s category, Time and Place from Iggy’s groups and Mel B’s underdog rep Maddison Milewski. The three contenders’ fate was predictable, especially after their mediocre performance during the live episode. Timmy gave a forgettable rendition of Selena Gomez’s “Hands To Myself,” while Iggy’s boyband, Time and Place, also failed to impress with their performance of “Ride” by Twenty One Pilots. Maddison also didn’t make an impact on the judges with “Addicted To You” by Avicii.

Those were acts were a complete opposite of Natalie’s performance of “When Love Takes Over” by David Guetta and Kelly Rowland. The judges unanimously commented that she nailed the song, despite Adam’s risky song choice. She had also consistently won over judges and fans alike, blowing them away with her astounding renditions of Etta James’ “I’d Rather Go Blind” and Christina Aguilera’s powerful ballad “The Voice Within.” The video of that particular performance has gone viral, generating more than 250,000 views to date.

Natalie’s mentor, Adam, said he’s extremely proud of the young singer. “You’re unbelievable, you’re a star,” the “American Idol” runner-up told her. “Australia, this is only the beginning,” he promised. In turn, Natalie thanked him for being the best mentor. “I really look up to Adam – he is a really down-to-earth person and he really cares about his singers,” she revealed.

She also thanked her fans for supporting her on this journey. “I hope you guys continue to support me on my journey ahead,” she said.

In addition to Adam’s Amalia and Isaiah, the “X Factor Australia” 2016 top eight consists of: Iggy’s Aya and Brentwood, Guy’s Davey Woder and Chynna Taylor and Mel B’s Beatz and Vlado Saric .
