Tiger Woods said he was impressed by Guan Tianlang's ability during their late practice round at Augusta National.

Woods is regarded by the golfing fraternity as the greatest striker of the ball on the PGA Tour. However, even he was taken aback by how well the 14-year-old from China hit the ball.

"I'll tell you what, he hits it good," said Woods after the two played a practice round with Dustin Johnson at Augusta National late on Monday.

It is well documented that Woods has had a love affair with Augusta National, a golf course which he probably knows and understands better than any of the other players on the professional tour.

During the practice round with Guan, Woods opted to share the intimate knowledge he has of the course.

"I showed him a few of the pins, helped him a little bit. The kid is 14. He's good. We had a good time," added Woods.

The world number one said he did find it somewhat bizarre that Guan, who wasn't allowed to play for his high school team, was now at the Masters.

"He can't play for his high school team because he's in middle school. And now he's in the Masters. That's pretty amazing," added Woods.

It has also become quite apparent that Guan has considerable stamina, which probably should be expected of him at his age. The youngster played 18 holes with Ben Crenshaw earlier in the day, before joining Woods and Johnson in the afternoon.
