There are still three direwolfs remaining of the six belonging to the Stark children. Will the direwolfs play a bigger role in "Winds of Winter"? Some of the fans of the book series predict what may happen with Nymeria and wonder if Arya will be reunited with her direwolf. [Spoiler Alert]

The direwolfs of the Stark children have a special bond with their respective masters. Although the relation has been highlighted several times by the author in the past, the bond has not been of much help to the characters so far. Grey Wind was unable to warn Robb Stark of the impending betrayal of the Freys and Sansa watched helplessly as her direwolf was killed.

Ghost is with Jon Snow, if they are both still alive in "Winds of Winter," and Summer is with Bran beyond The Wall. Two direwolfs that have not featured prominently in the recent books are Nymeria and Shaggydog. Some of the members of Westeros forum speculate whether the two direwolfs will make an appearance in the next book.

Nymeria belongs to Arya Stark and was let go very early in the book series after it attacked Joffrey Baratheon. The readers got brief glimpses of the direwolf leading a pack of wolfs and hunting animals and people alike without fear in the later books. Arya is also slowly learning to be a master assassin and can now kill without flinching.

Will Arya and Nymeria finally be reunited in "Winds of Winter"? What could their reunion mean in the story line? One of the fans speculates that they will be a part of the Stark revenge plot that may involve Jon Snow leading an army of the Wildlings, Sansa raising her army at the Vale and Arya leading a pack of wolves with Nymeria.

Rickon Stark has one of the strongest claims for being the lord of Winterfell. But very little is known about the character and what he has been doing. Davos is expected to go on a search to find the boy in the next book.

The biggest threat for Westeros however is from the White Walkers. More plots maybe revealed about Little Finger, House Martell and Tyrell. There are some who are fighting for power while others are fighting for revenge. In the midst of all the chaos will the Stark children emerge as the saviours in "Winds of Winter"?
