The 2013 FINA Swimming World Cup resumes in Singapore on Nov 5-6 after a successful leg in Doha, Qatar.

The short-course competition, composed of eight legs, has seen some new stars emerge. South African Chad le Clos, who shocked the swimming world by beating Michael Phelps in the 200-metre final in London 2012, is the frontrunner so far in 2013 with a total of 332 points after the Doha leg, far ahead of Russia's Vladimir Morozov, who has 240 points so far. Le Clos set a new short-course 200-metre record of 1:48.56 in Day One of the Singapore competitions.

In hot pursuit are Morozov and Australia's Kenneth To and Robert Hurley. Morozov won the 50-metre freestyle silver medal in the 2013 World Championships (short course) in Barcelona and two gold medals, in the 50-metre and 100-metre freestyle events, in the 2012 long course World Championships in Istanbul. The 21-year-old To, for his part, has compiled 192 points. To won the Moscow and Dubai 100-metre medley and the Eindhoven and Berlin 200-metre individual medley.

The runaway leader for the women's events is Hungary's Katinka Hosszu, who is the reigning short-course and long-course champion in the 200-metre medley and 400 medley. The 24-year-old Hosszu has thoroughly dominated the 200-metre butterfly, and the 200-, 100- and 400-metre individual medley en route to an eye-popping 579 points after five rounds. She is followed by Spain's Mireia Belmonte, the 2012 Olympic silver medalist in the 800-metre freestyle and 200-metre butterfly. Belmonte is also the first woman to break 8:00 in the 800 short course freestyle.
