This 2017, there are a lot of new smartphone technologies that are trying to be incorporated to the average mobile phone. With dozens of new chipsets, processors and accessories to be added in a smartphone, many consumers are looking for the best ones. This 2017 alone, there are so much more hype with the new phones and the technologies that will be incorporated in them.

It is speculated that the iPhone 8 will supposedly have wireless charging capabilities. This is news broke out after it was reported that Apple secretly joined Wireless Power Consortium. Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy S series is rumoured to have iris scanning capabilities for more security. Here are some of the most anticipated smartphones for this year.

iPhone 8

It is the 10th anniversary of Apple’s iPhone this year. This is getting a lot of people excited as this could be the ultimate change Apple fans have been waiting for. Since the iPhone 6, many Apple consumers have complained about the lack of creativity and design. Therefore, it seems that these fans have high hopes for the iPhone 8.

As of late, the iPhone 8 is expected to have the iOS 11 update by the time of its release. On top of this, it is expected that there will be three variants of the upcoming smartphone: a 4.7-inch, 5.5-inch and a 5.8-inch.

According to speculations, the 5.8-inch screen will have an edge-to-edge bezel-less display. It will also not have a physical home button. The iPhone is also expected to have a 3D laser scanner that replaces the Touch ID. As mentioned earlier, wireless charging may also come to the iPhone. In hardware, there will still be no 3.5mm headphone jack, but the phone will come with the latest Apple A11 processor and Intel LTE modem chip. Rumours say that the previously aluminum backing of the phone will be replaced with either glass or ceramic.

Samsung Galaxy S8

Beyond the Samsung Galaxy S7 fiasco in 2016, there are still multiple Android fans that love Samsung products. Therefore, the Galaxy S8 is one phone many Samsung and Android fans are looking forward to having this 2017. This upcoming S series smartphone will notably remove the physical home button. It will be replaced with a virtual on-screen button instead.

Just like the iPhone 8, the S8 is supposedly going to have a bezel-less display as well. There will be two display options 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch to be called S8 and S8 Plus, respectively. This smartphone is said to be released some time in March when Samsung will hold its own company event.

Nokia Android

With the Mobile World Congress 2017 (MWC 2017) just around the corner, Android and Nokia fans rejoice. According to recent reports, the Nokia 3310 reboot will make a comeback on Sunday. However, the Nokia 8 or Nokia Android smartphone is also in the list of the most anticipated phone to come out this year.

Although most of the important specifications of the new Nokia Android phone have already been leaked online, the only thing that keeps this smartphone on the list is its price. There are rumours that the phone will not sell as much as the likes of Apple and other high-end brands. It is speculated that it will be around 3,188 CNY (approx. AU$600).

While the price does matter, the Nokia Android will have a lot of great specs. This includes the new Snapdragon 835 processor with a 5.7-inch QHD Super AMOLED display. Furthermore, it will apparently have a 24MP rear camera along with a 12MP front cam. The best part is that it will likely run on Android’s latest OS Android 7.0 Nougat.

There are certainly more phones that will be introduced in the MWC 2017. Some of the phones will not be released in that event, though. However, the event will start introducing the new technologies available for smartphones today.
