Stress is a normal part of life and millions of adults actually experience it on a daily basis. However, it is important to determine the difference between normal stress and stress levels that border on dangerous and life-threatening. Some people suffered from permanent damage and even death due to overwhelming stress. Always determine the early stress signals and know the proper techniques when the danger signs are already present.

1. Depression

Mayo Clinic notes that chronic stress can turn into depression if left untreated. If you notice that your stress lasts longer than a few days, it is best to consult a psychiatrist or physician who can recommend stress relievers. You might need to take a few days off from work or away from whatever is causing you stress.

2. Exhaustion

If you find it difficult to sleep for several nights and worry constantly, these are danger signs of stress. You might feel exhausted most of the time and lack the energy to go to work or perform other activities. Be careful about this dangerous stress signal which can lead to long term physical problems like cardiovascular problems.

3. Constant cold and fever

You might find yourself constantly getting sick. If you have flu-like symptoms that do not go away after several days even with medication or suffer from a cold several times each month, you might be suffering from high level stress. It is best to take a few days off from work to rest and eat better. You might develop chronic health problems if the illness is not completely treated or keeps returning.

4. Rage

Irritability is a normal reaction to stress. However, if you find yourself in fit of rage or constantly angry with the people around you, including those who do not cause you stress, you might need to take some stress relieving medications. Your neurotransmitters may be at an imbalance, where more stress hormones are being produced, which can lead to mental health problems if left untreated.

Cleveland Clinic also advises that you should seek professional help if you develop unhealthy habits like not eating for a day or more, starting to smoke or drink or having thoughts of suicide. These stress signals should never be ignored.
