Fans are eagerly waiting for the “Prison Break” revival and adding to the expectation was Dominic Purcell, who plays Lincoln Burrows, brother to Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller). According to Purcell, it is he along with Miller who should be thanked for making “Prison Break” Season 5 a reality. As Purcell and Miller are working together for DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, they felt like reprising their old roles and proposed to Fox.

“Wentworth and I decided, 'Why not revisit Prison Break?' -- and so we went to the studio and they were excited about the idea and here we are. Prison Break was such an iconic show and it was something that we were very interested in revisiting, and they pulled out all the stops. So it's going to be a tremendous show,” Purcell was quoted by Express as saying.

As Miller had kind of semi-retired from acting, the revival was on hold though the thought was always there. However, when Miller announced that he was coming out of his semi-retirement, the studio was confident that it would be making Season 5 of “Prison Break.”

“I think the studio always wanted to at some point revisit Prison Break, but at some point Wentworth kind of semi-retired from the business. He gave himself a break and focused on writing. He's jumped back into the fray now -- and as soon as Wentworth was on board, that's when the dominos started to fall,” Purcell added.

[Spoiler Alert] According to The Siver Times, Scofield and Dr Sara Tancredi’s son will play an important role in “Prison Break” Season 5. It was earlier announced that Tancredi would be raising their son along with husband Scott (Mark Feuerstein), and Fox was searching for the perfect Scofield junior. In fact, season 5 will begin with Scofield junior and he will help Scofield regain his memory.

If rumours are to be believed, a major character will die in Season 5 and that won’t be Scofield. According to the rumours, Tancredi will be the one dying, writes The Bitbag. These are simply speculations and fans would never want their favourite Tancredi to die.

“Prison Break” Season 5 is expected to arrive on Fox in early 2017. However, it may also air sooner than expected. The buzz is that the show may be shifted to September 2016.
