Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire’s (Caitriona Balfe) relationship has evolved in “Outlander” season 4. The two characters are now in a “mature” relationship that will not be hindered by outside forces, the way it has been so far on the show.

There was a lot of physical attraction between Jamie and Claire at the beginning, which slowly blossomed into love. In an interview with ETOnline, Balfe teased that the two characters are now in a “more mature relationship.”

In the past three seasons the two characters were being pulled apart by external factors, Balfe pointed out. But this time around they will get a chance to explore their relationship without such problems. Heughan too echoed these sentiments and added that the Frasers will get to “breathe for a short time.”

Balfe explained that there is “deeper love” in between Jamie and Claire that goes beyond the physical aspect. She also teased that the two are now a “solid team.” Heughan said that the fans will get to see the Frasers in a “very domestic situation,” and added that it is “really nice” how the two interact with each other.

“Well, I think that they're soulmates,” Balfe said. "I think that they push each other to be the best versions of themselves.”

Jamie and Claire have been through a lot when they were together, and have longed for each other during the time that they were separated. Now that they are together, they understand each other well, Heughan said.

Jamie and Claire have always wanted a home, and they will get just that in the next season. Heughan didn’t tease any more details about this new home because he considers this a spoiler, but the fans who have read Diana Gabaldon’s books know how the Frasers will build a new home in America.
