David Berry may have landed a big role in “Outlander” season 3, but the Aussie actor had some humble beginnings. In a recent interview, the actor explained the quick casting process and how the warmth of the people of Scotland made him consider the country as his second home.

Fans are yet to see Berry play the role of Lord John Grey, but in a recent interview on Yahoo, he recalled a time when he used to work as a researcher. He was a guest at “The Morning Show,” and one of the hosts remembered him from his early days before he took up the glamorous work of acting. The actor joked about bringing coffee to the host.

When asked about what it was like to be part of the Starz TV series, Berry said he is very excited. The actor has been travelling a lot in Scotland, where he spent a lot of time filming. Taking about the casting process, he said that the industry has changed a bit, making it relatively easy for young actors to get cast in big shows. For his part, Berry didn’t have to travel all the way to Los Angeles; he gave the audition in Sydney and sent over the tape to casting directors across the globe.

Berry didn’t get a lot of time to prepare for his role, as he was asked to head to Scotland one week after the audition. The actor had to work on a British accent, which he seems to have forgotten at the moment because he is in his “Aussie zone.”

The best thing about filming in Scotland for Berry appears to be the people he interacted with. “Scotland is an amazing country,” the actor said. The reason for that is the people, who he described as “really friendly” and “down to earth.” He said that he goes there to film and work, but it feels like a “second home.”
