The wait for the air date of “Outlander” season 3 may be a long one, but Droughtlander may be interesting this year. There are some “surprises” in store for the fans, which will be revealed soon. Meanwhile, cast member Sam Heughan and co-executive Producer Maril Davis have reached South Africa to complete the production.

In a reply to a reporter who has been helping fans through Droughtlander, the official Twitter page of the Starz show teased that they can’t wait to share the “surprises” they have in store for the fans. It is not clear if the comment was in reference to the changes from the books on the show, or if the publicity team has planned something special for the fans in the coming months.

Meanwhile, the filming in South Africa is set to begin soon. Heughan (Jamie Fraser) arrived in the country, and he received a warm welcome from the fans there. The fans were waiting for him right at the airport, and one of them was a member of the My Peak Challenge fitness community the actor has built.

Heughan took the time to click pictures with his fans at the airport. The popularity of the Starz show in South Africa suggests that the cast members will get a few visits while they are filming “Outlander” season 3.

Apart from the cast members, Producer Davis also arrived in South Africa yesterday. She shared a picture [see below] of Cape Town right from her plane before landing.

Co-executive Producer Matthew B. Roberts also shared a picture [see below] from South Africa. He said that the weather has been good so far. The actual filming may not have taken place yet, but the good weather is an indication the production will begin smoothly for the Starz show.

While the fans wait for filming updates, they can watch the first two seasons to tide over Droughtlander. Starz has started airing all the episodes in the US. There will be an episode each week, and this will lead up to the next season.

The next season is set to premiere in September. The filming in South Africa is scheduled to be completed in June. The Starz show will then go into the post production phase of development. Filming of about 8 episodes is already complete and is being edited by the team.

Heughan has managed to see a few bits of “Outlander” season 3. During the Emerald City Comic Con panel discussion, the actor emphasised that the show is “strong,” and he also said that he can’t wait for his fans to see the show.
