The fans will still see Rebekah Mikaelson when "The Originals" Season 2 returns in January 2015 but a different actress will portray the character. In an interview, executive producer Michael Narducci talked about the CW spinoff series' new cast member as well as the "body swap" storyline that became the focus of Esther's (Sonja Sohn) plan for her children.

In the mid-season finale episode titled "The Map of Moments," the fans had to say goodbye to Australian actress Claire Holt who portrayed the vampire character Rebekah Mikaelson in "The Originals" and "The Vampire Diaries." The ending scene of the mid-season finale episode introduced newbie cast member Maisie Richardson-Sellers as Rebekah.

Executive producer Michael Narducci assured the fans that the character is still the same Rebekah Mikaelson that they have grown to know and love even though she is in a new body. The executive producer explained that the events of the mid-season finale episode led to Rebekah being jumped into a different body.

"We've seen what it's like for Finn and Kol to be in a different body and now we're going to see what it's like for Rebekah too," Narducci revealed in an exclusive ETOnline interview. The executive producer shared that actress Maisie Richardson-Sellers' phenomenal presence is what made her the perfect choice to portray Rebekah Mikaelson in "The Originals" Season 2.

Additionally, the executive producer revealed that the body-swapping storyline will continue to be a big part in the upcoming episodes of "The Originals" Season 2 especially now that Rebekah is in a situation that will make her adjust big time. Michael Narducci further teased that the storyline on Rebekah's body swap will be explored when "The Originals" returns because there are a lot of burning questions as to what happens next to the character.

"Would Rebekah have had any inclination towards magic? Would she be desperate to return to her original body because she knows it would be the best possible means for defending her family and defending Baby Hope? Those questions are things that we're going to explore with this storyline," Narducci declared. "The Originals" Season 2 will return on Jan. 19, 2015 on the CW Network.
