Hip-hop star Nicki Minaj shares her “take-charge” secrets for making a name of her own in a music scene mostly dominated by male rappers. Her success was also lauded by her rumored boyfriend, Meek Mill, who sees her as someone who could help him “take over the world.”

Over the years, the Trinidad native landed a record deal with “Young Money Entertainment” courtesy of co-rapper Lil Wayn, four American Music Awards, six Grammy nods, and endorsement deals with the likes of MAC, OPI, and Pepsi. In an interview for the May issue of Glamour Magazine, Minaj shed light on her journey to the top – transforming from “a brash young singer and wearer of over-the-top cotton candy wigs to the most-charted female rapper.” The singer gave a few tips on how to be the boss.

Minaj wants women, especially young girls, to have a clear vision of what they want to do. She shares that she takes her time in working on her new album to give her listeners something they could relate to. She also revealed that Jay Z has always been a role model to her, adding that the high-profile singer knows how to inspire people, like making a drug dealer believe he could do better with his life to become a celebrated businessman. “That's what I want to do for young girls, to say, 'It doesn't matter where you started in your life, you too can become a mogul and anything you want to be," she says.

The mogul-aspirant also advises women not to dress for anyone but themselves and to ignore labels. Nicki shares that while people take her more seriously now that she toned down the bright-colored hair and lips, she believes that women should still “do what makes them happiest and strongest.” She also revealed that she thinks men get “the man pass” every time they show bad attitude but the same behavior from women places the latter at the receiving end of raised eyebrows. She believes that all these could only be about one’s overall confidence that “comes from within,” adding that she has always been “where there's a will, there's a way” kind of person.

She further encourages people to work hard to achieve their dreams but to still have the inner peace to accept failure. She also believes that focusing on one’s career is important but it also necessary to have a vacation once in a while.

While Nicki gets high praises from her fans, rapper Meek Mill, who recently confirmed their relationship status, gave his own words of adoration to the “Bang Bang” singer. In his most recent Instagram post, Mill shares a sexy photo of Nicki, with a caption indicating that Nicki was the woman who could help him take over the world and adding numerous hashtags including #imlucky. According to MTV, the two have been notoriously clamming up about their relationship but continue to post photos of each other on social media and even engage in PDA sessions on their errands together.

Nicki is currently in the middle of the European leg of her tour promoting her third studio album “The Pinkprint.” Meanwhile, Meek , who is still in the United States, denies rumors of his sophomore album coming out next Tuesday. He took to Twitter to tell his fans to “stay down” and wait a little longer.
