Led by Robert Griffin III, the Washington Redskins are set to make their 2013 regular season debut on Tuesday night and play hosts to the Philadelphia Eagles, featuring Michael Vick in a battle between projected NFC East contenders.

RG3 has been cleared to play by team doctors as early as last week and is set to start under center for Washington in the first Monday Night Football game of the season.

Vick, meanwhile, has retaken the starting job with Philadelphia. The 34-year-old quarterback appears healthy for the new season and hopes to replicate his success with the Eagles when he led the team to post-season slot in 2010.

The Redskins swept the Eagles in the 2012 regular season with scores of 27-20 and 31-6. Griffin was a beast both times, logging in a combined total of 6 touchdowns and 398 yards, including 84 rushing yards gain at home in Washington.

Griffin broke rookie quarterback records for passer rating (102.4) and total rushing yards (815). Another first-year player in Alfred Morris also was impressive in 2012 as he was second in the entire league in total rushing yards (1,613).

The Eagles fired head coach Andy Reid in the offseason and replaced him with Chip Kelly, who’s making his debut as Philly head coach on Monday night.
