A former nanny of ex-couple Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon are now suing them for being treated like a slave. The nanny also revealed that she was fired for treating the ex-couple’s children affectionately.

Page Six reports that Simonette DaCosta, the former nanny of Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon, filed a Manhattan federal court lawsuit last Tuesday for being underpaid and treated like a slave. In her lawsuit, the nanny claimed that she was given $3,000 to $3,600 twice monthly but not overtime pay. She said she was tasked to care for the ex-couple’s three-year-old twins from Oct. 2013 to Jan. 2014, but had tasks including more than just caring for the kids. She was also on the beck and call of Mariah and Nick 24/7.

Moreover, she said she was forced to work rotating shifts. Sometimes, she had to complete 84 hours of weekly shifts spread over seven 12-hour days. On some days, she had to work as many as 120 hours, spread over five 24-hour days. She never received a cent for her overtime work.

Ultimately, the nanny complained that she was fired for the unjust and unreasonable reason of doing her job too well with the kids. She was let go because she was “too affectionate” with the twins Monroe and Moroccan. The nanny said Mariah and Nick were anxious that the twins would become attached to her.

This is not the first time Mariah Carey is being sued for being an unjust “slave” driver. Last month, her personal assistant Ylser Oliver also called her a slave driving boss who did not know how to pay for overtime work. According to Ylser, she was working 16-hour days for Mariah, tending to all her personal needs. Mariah needed her all the time and would not tolerate any form of delay that Ylser said she could not take breaks for meals or rest.

“Ms. Carey would not tolerate any delay when she called, and plaintiff had to attend to her every demand, spontaneous or otherwise, whether called upon during the day or in the middle of the night,” says the suit. “In sum, plaintiff was expected to be … on call every hour of every day.”

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon are currently embittered in difficult divorce proceedings. Nick already formally filed for a divorce on Dec. 12, 2014.
