The former Denver Bronco is set to play Coach Gary, the sports tutor of Joe. Coach Gary will teach the little guy how to throw and catch at the Pritchett residence. Gloria will be all over her son’s coach, who will draw the ire of Jay. The Pritchett patriarch used to be football player in high school.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Manning chanced upon the show’s creator, Steve Levitan, when they were both in Mexico. Levitan talked to him about appearing in a “Modern Family” episode and Manning easily said “yes” since he was already a huge fan of the show.
