As search becomes wider and investigation shifts focus on the crew of the missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, recent reports claim that Boeing 777 may have deliberately dropped to very unsafely altitude by hijackers. The missing jetliner flew at an altitude of 5,000ft, according to Daily Mail.

It is said that missing flight MH370 may have flown at such dangerously low heights to escape radar detection. Villagers have reported that they witnessed bright lights in the sky as well as loud noises at "about the time the aircraft is thought to have made a U-turn."

Experts and investigators reportedly told Malaysian newspaper that the missing airplane had plunged to "avoid ground radar, using the surrounding terrain as a sonar barrier."

An official told New Straits Times that the plane flew low over Kelantan. This is the place in north east from where villagers and fishermen have reported seeing bright lights in night sky when Boeing 777 disappeared. According to the reports, as many as nine people have filed such reports about seeing "bright lights" in the sky including farmers, fishermen and villagers.

"The person who had control over the aircraft has a solid knowledge of avionics and navigation, and left a clean track. It passed low over Kelantan, that was true," told the officials to New Straits Time.

According to the report, the plane dropped down from 45000ft to 5000ft while it travelled from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing on March 8, 2014. Travelling at such low height is highly perilous as the plane can easily crash into something especially at night without the surveillance of radar.

This method is called terrain masking which is said to be very dangerous as well as can cause airsickness. It also burdens the airframe of the aircraft especially the ones as big as 777's size. Boeing 777 was reportedly missing from the "radar coverage of possibly at least three countries" during most of its eight hours travelling time.

Mirror UK reports that this claim explains China, Indonesia, Kazakhstan and Pakistan's claims that their records witnessed absence of MH370. It was reported that these countries did not record missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 enter their airspace. These claims have only heightened suspicion and fears of hijacking of the missing Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777. Boeing 777 has been missing for more than 10 days with 239 people on board.
