Microsoft Australia may have hinted that the Surface Phone 2016 could be release very soon. The Microsoft Surface Phone 2016 is one of the most-anticipated devices in the tech world. Rumours surrounding the Surface Phone have been doing rounds for quite some time now. Until recently, the company had released no official information regarding the device.

Microsoft has been struggling with its smartphone department for a long time now especially after its Lumia/Windows Phone series did not perform as per expectations. The Lumia phones are expected to halt production by the end of this year. The future of Windows 10 on mobile had also been questioned lately. Now, the Microsoft Surface Phone 2016 leak has provided fresh excitement to fans.

Microsoft Australia dropped the biggest hint via its Twitter account when it accidentally tweeted a promotional image showcasing the Surface Phone along with the Surface Pro 4 tablet and Surface Book laptop, reported Express.co.uk. The image had official Microsoft branding and the dark smartphone shape was surely the Microsoft Surface Phone 2016. The tweet simply said “Soon! :).”

This shows that Microsoft is currently working on releasing the handset as soon as possible. Moreover, the image had the line “New One in Surface family!” This is all the more reason to believe the Microsoft Surface Phone 2016 is on its way. The tweet was immediately deleted within minutes.

According to The Bitbag, the Surface Phone was initially expected to be released in 2017 as Microsoft wanted to include the Intel Kaby Lake processor in the device. If the phone is release some time soon, as suggested by the leak, fans may have to be happy without the Kaby Lake chipset.

The Microsoft Surface Phone 2016 is expected to have a 5.7-inch touch screen and a 2K resolution. It is also expected to sport a Snapdragon 830 processor and a 20MP rear camera with Carl Zeiss lens.
