After successfully launching Windows tablets and laptops at CES 2016, Microsoft is trying to venture into the carrier market. The Redmond-based company is currently working on its own SIM cards for windows devices.

Microsoft published a new app called Cellular Data, which tips the company’s plans. "The Cellular Data app allows you to connect to a trusted nationwide mobile data network using only your Microsoft account," the official description of the app states.

The app can be found on the Windows Store and it is designed in such a way that it supports specifically Windows 10 devices and Microsoft SIM cards. The listing says that the company has already launched the service in selected markets for the trial.

The listing reads, "Service is available in some markets and offers are for domestic plans only - international roaming offers will be available soon." The listing also says that Microsoft intends to spread out the service to international roaming.

Moreover, the company is planning to use Microsoft accounts which will allow the consumers to purchase mobile data. Along with that, apps with features like “get online anywhere without Wi-Fi” and “buy cellular data regardless of place and time,” are also available. This will be listed in Windows Store, according to the Cellular Data app listing.

According to NDTV, a step by step process to purchase a data plan on the device is featured on the listing. Consumers can go to the list of networks and search for the Wi-Fi or Cellular data and select them. Then users can just go to their mobile settings and select 'View plans' and follow the steps to buy data plan.

Microsoft has launched these services as a start and it is expected that the company will release more such services on the Microsoft SIM card after the launch worldwide.
