Michael Schumacher is in a coma after an accident at the ski resort French Alpine Meribel on Sunday morning. The news has left the entire world in shock. Michael is currently struggling for survival after he fell and hit his head on a rock whilst skiing with his son Mick. Fortunately, he was wearing a helmet. The condition of the 44-year-old is said to be critical after sustaining head injuries. The sporting world also is in a jolt following the news and had expressed their concern on social media. Stars from the sports-world have joined fans of the seven time Formula One champion in sending their messages of concern and prayers for the racing star's recovery. "Like millions of Germans, the chancellor and members of the government were extremely dismayed when they heard about Michael Schumacher's serious skiing accident," said German Chancellor Angela Merkel's spokesman, Steffen Seibert, in Berlin.

"I am shocked and hope that he will get better as soon as possible," Sebatian Vettel, who was also called as "Baby Schumi," said German news agency dpa.

German Formula One racing driver, Sebastian Vettal said: "This is a very sad night.

"I am praying for you my brother!! I hope you have a quick recovery!! God bless you Michael," wrote Felipe Massa on Instagram he also survived severe head injuries at the Hungarian Grand Prix in 2009. He also posted an image of the duo embracing on Instagram.

Footballer Cristiano Ronaldo posted an image of Schumacher, with the message, "Get well soon!"

Schumacher gone through a "serious brain trauma with coma on his arrival, which required an immediate neurosurgical operation," stated by the hospital who is providing medical treatment to Schumacher in the French city of Grenoble.
