Mass Effect 3 has long been in the market (approximately 3 months old) but even if it is already been out for quite sometime, the news about the ending of Mass Effect 3 and its extended cut.

Mass Effect 3 Ending

There are accusations raised against Mass Effect 3 regarding misleading consumers through false advertisement. According to some groups, the ad for the trilogy-ending states that "the decisions you make completely shape your experience and outcome". This statement supposedly make games believe that they are able to alter the ending of the game depending on the decisions that they make. In reality, the ending is dictated by EMS (Effective Military Strength) from the final game alone. The complain states that there is a ""misleadingly exaggerated the variety of outcomes available in the game and the differences between the outcomes".

In line with this, the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) in UK released a statement saying that EA and BioWare are not guilty of the accusations filed against them. Here is an excerpt from the statement released by ASA:

"The ASA acknowledged the belief that players' choices in the game did not influence the outcome to the extent claimed by EA. However, we considered that the three choices at the end of the game were thematically quite different, and that the availability and effectiveness of those choices would be directly determined by a player's score, which was calculated with reference to previous performance in the game(s). We also acknowledged that there appeared to be a large number of minor variations in the end stages of Mass Effect 3, and those were directly impacted by choices made by the players earlier in the game(s)."

Extended Cut for Mass Effect 3

Another hot issue about Mass Effect 3 is the supposed extended cut of the popular game. Rumors are stating that the extended cut would contain more additional scenes which have more dialogue thus implying that players can have more control over the ending. Bioware has not released any statement confirming or denying this rumor about the extended cut in Mass Effect 3.
