In an effort to give Carrie Mathison’s (Claire Danes) daughter, Frannie, a larger and more important role in the series, “Homeland” is giving way for a new young actress to play the role. It is a growing trend nowadays to recast young actors for many different series, so this barely comes as a surprise., especially with an evolving storyline as this one.

Spoiler alert! This article contains "Homeland" spoilers. Read on if you would like to know what happens next before the new episode airs.

According to Catermatt, the series is already in the process of recasting the role of Carrie’s daughter, and is looking for a four-year old actress that could meet the demands of a more visible role in the series. While very little yet is known about what to expect from her in the upcoming season, it is to be reasonably expected that Danes will play a very active role together with her for the upcoming season.

This could also spell more ups and down for Carrie as her role of being a mother could be further emphasized, which could spell out even more drama regarding her mental condition.

Carrie Mathison, the protagonist of the series, is suffering from bipolar disorder. This has taken her through several unexpected ups and downs in the past few seasons. The audience has witnessed how Carrie has battled her emotions that vacillate with random thoughts and actions. With what is about to happen, it looks like the battle from within her head is about to be taken to the next level.

This is also confirmed by TVLine in a report wherein they said that the new Frannie will have her role beefed up and now would have a major recurring presence in the series.

Aside from the revamp in the casting, the series is moving to New York for the upcoming season. This is after spending a great amount of time overseas. From here, the new setting can be expected to display something more typical and formal which would match the Big Apple’s feel, while reconciling all the time spent abroad with different international connections.

The sixth season of “Homeland” will air early on Showtime in 2017. It also airs on Channel Ten in Australia.
