Ever since One Direction announced its hiatus in 2015, fans have questioned what the boys will do in the meantime. And while the other members have begun their solo musical careers, Harry Styles is just about to make his debut as an individual act.

It was recently confirmed in Harry would be taking the stage in an April episode of “Saturday Night Live.” The show’s official Twitter account made the announcement earlier this week in a post that can be seen below. The 23-year-old singer will be the musical guest while Jimmy Fallon will host.

The Sun UK noted that debuting his own music on “Saturday Night Life” is a smart move for Harry, particularly because the comedy sketch show is so popular in the United States. The One Directioner is currently signed with Columbia Records and has worked with the likes of Bruno Mars, producer Max Martin, OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder and Snow Patrol’s Johnny McDaid. So while he does not have his bandmates behind him, Harry is still in great hands.

Harry reportedly spent some time in Jamaica recording his songs. Mirror UK reported that BBC Radio One DJ Nick Grimshaw confirmed that Harry jetted out to the Caribbean island to work on his music. Grimshaw even joked that the album would have some reggae beats and influence. And while it was meant to be funny, anything is possible at this point. Going towards reggae would definitely help distinguish him from the rest of his bandmates.

It has not been confirmed when Harry’s album will be released, but it is estimated to be released before the year comes to a close. It is possible that the musician will make an announcement during his performance on the SNL stage.

The upcoming album is not Harry’s first foray beyond One Direction. He has actually spent the time away from Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne by acting. Christopher Nolan’s “Dunkirk,” which stars Harry, Tom Hardy and Cillian Murphy, will release in Australia in July.
