Spoiler alert: This update contains Grimm Season 4 spoilers. Read at your own risk if you have watched the previous episodes.

In the premiere episode of Grimm Season 4, the FBI looks into the death of one of their own, Weston Steward. They soon realize Trubel (Jacqueline Toboni) has killed the shady agent in self-defense. One of the FBI agents, Chavez (Tony Award winner Elizabeth Rodriguez), is revealed to be a wesen, only it is not clear if this one is a potential villain or ally.

Here are some of the most notable moments from Grimm Season 4, Episode 1 (spoilers):

- Drew Wu (Reggie Lee) has yet to realise his police friends have been lying to him all this time, despite his recurring nightmares about the aswang he encounters in Grimm Season 3.

- Hank Griffin (Russell Hornsby) appears to be ready to share the truth with Wu if they were not interrupted by the doctor attending to Captain Renard.

- Captain Renard has been declared dead, but the actor playing the role, Sasha Roiz, has hinted in earlier reviews that Adalind (Claire Coffee) and Renard will still have some partnership going on in the future.

- Juliette (Bitsie Tulloch) is coming to terms with the fact that Nick has failed to see through Adalind when she copied her physical features and voice.

- A mystery woman (Louise Lombard) arrives in the hospital, and she looks extremely worried over Captain Renard's situation. Some viewers are saying this could be the police captain's mother.

"It's a supernatural series and anyone could come back," Sasha Roiz told OnEdgeTV in this interview. This line alone hints that the doc's announcement of Captain Renard's death must not be me with much agony.

"[Adalind is] in for a big surprise as she also [needs] to align herself with Renard," Roiz also said in the same report, adding "If that would ever happen, they'll have unhealthy relationship, but needed to be partner on it because of the child."

Overall, things are all good in the opening of Grimm Season 4. Fans are likely to see Nick become a Grimm again, but the showrunners want a journey toward that to further build Nick as a wesen-fighting hero.

As for the mystery character, who might just be Captain Renard's mother, the promo clip for the next episode reveals more about her intentions.
