The rumour mill is consistently talking about the upcoming Google Nexus 2015 smartphones but fresh speculations reveal that Google is also working on an 8-inch tablet. Several photos of the Google Nexus 8 dummy unit have surfaced, indicating that the tablet may get unleashed as early as next month.

According to GSM Arena, one of the images shows the Nexus 8 placed alongside a ruler. The length of the purported Nexus 8 tablet is 200 mm. Hence, it can be understood that it is an 8-inch tablet that will be offering a screen ratio of 4:3.

Another photo of the tablet reveals that it will be housing a metal frame. One of the corners on the metal frame seems to sport a speaker grille.

The Nexus 7 tablets that came out in 2012 and 2013 were built by Asus. The Nexus 9 from 2014 is a product from HTC. As of this writing, there is no information on which company will be manufacturing the Google Nexus 8 tablet, Tech Radar reported.

The recently leaked benchmarks information of the Google Nexus 8 suggest that it will be featuring an octa-core processor from MediaTek that will be able to deliver a clocking speed of 1.3 GHz. The benchmarks also revealed that the tablet is running on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS. However, the tablet is expected to release with Android 6.0 Marshmallow onboard.

However, there is no official confirmation from the search engine on the upcoming Nexus devices. The Nexus 8 tablet will replace last year’s HTC Nexus 9 that came with 8.9-inch display supporting 1536 x 2048 pixels and 2.3 GHz Nvidia Tegra K1 processor.

The LG Nexus 5 (2015) and the Huawei Nexus 6 (2015) are pegged to get announced on Sept. 29. Hence, the Google Nexus 8 release date is also predicted as Sept. 29.
