George Clooney to appear before a Milan court
Actor George Clooney will be heading to Milan, Italy to testify against three men who allegedly used his name for a fashion label. The case dates back to April of 2008 when the men took Clooney's name and used it to market a fashion show at a Milan hotel.
The group was charged for fraud, forgery and possession of stolen goods. WENN reports that the names of the accused have not yet been released.
Clooney's lawyer Grazia Maria has verified that the actor will appear in court as a civil plaintiff on July 16.
In the meantime, presiding judge Pietro Caccialanza claims he will see to it that extra security measures will be taken to ensure that the trial will go smoothly despite Clooney's presence.
"There will be a lot of people, I imagine." He also promised to give Clooney's fans a chance "to come close to their hero," Caccialanza told the ANSA news agency.
