Edmure Tully (Tobias Menzies), who was last seen in Season 3 of “Game of Thrones,” made a surprising comeback in Season 6, episode 6, “Blood of My Blood.” It will be interesting to see how he will be used by the Freys to take back Riverrun.

[Spoiler Alert] “Game of Thrones,” is known to shock viewers bitterly by killing off favourite characters and the “Red Wedding” was one of those immensely shocking episodes where Lady Stoneheart (Michelle Fairley), along with her son Robb Stark (Richard Madden) and company, was brutally murdered by the Freys and Boltons.

The devious plan was mastered by Tywin Lannister (Charles Dance) who gave Riverrun to the Freys and made Roose Bolton (Michael McElhatton) Warden of the North. It was Edmure who was the groom in the wedding. Unknown to fans, he was captured and not killed by the Freys.

In the latest GoT episode, it was revealed that Brynden Tully (Clive Russell), also known as the Blackfish, and uncle to Lady Stoneheart and Edmure, has taken back Riverrun from the Freys. This is where Edmure becomes a pawn in a large political fight, as Menzies revealed to Entertainment Weekly.

Walder Frey (David Bradley) will try and use Edmure as bait to reclaim Riverrun, which is Edmure’s ancestral home. Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) will send his men to Riverrun to take it back. Walder Frey will send men too. Thus, it will be interesting to see how the Blackfish takes control of the situation, if at all he can. Edmure will have to take a very strong decision whether to betray his family or not.

Moreover, Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) has also sent Brienne of Tarth (Gwendoline Christie) to talk the Blackfish into joining the Stark cause. With the High Sparrow (Jonathan Pryce) checkmating the Tyrells and Lannisters by talking King Tommen (Dean-Charles Chapman), Loras Tyrell (Finn Jones) and Queen Margaery (Natalie Dormer) into giving equal rights to the Faith besides the Crown, Jaime has little to do in King’s Landing. Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) too wants Jaime to take back Riverrun.

The next episode of Season 6 has been named “The Broken Man.” The official synopsis of the episode has revealed that the High Sparrow will eye another target. Jaime will confront a hero. Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) will make a plan and the North will be reminded.

“Game of Thrones” Season 6 continues on Foxtel 11 a.m. & 7.30 p.m. Mondays.
