“Game of Thrones” character Sansa Stark, played by Sophie Turner, is one of the favourite characters by the show’s fans. However, information recently came up that the Sansa that fans love today could have had a different face.

Turner’s face has become famous for her Sansa portrayal. What fans don’t know is that she almost lost the part. Her competition for the iconic role was a look-alike British actress named Izzy Meikle-Small.

It was them who were narrowed down to the final two for the audition call for Sansa. Looking at Small’s photo , it could be easily observed that the actresses look similar. They both don the long red hair and have quite similar facial features. It seemed that the show had a certain Sansa look that they were searching for. In the end, casting agents picked Sophie to play Sansa as she had the edge to play the part, the Daily Mail writes.

Small was not upset over losing the show. Initially, she said that she was a little sad because the “Game of Thrones” has become a massive international entertainment. However, she is also fine not being in the show as she pointed out that the characters in the show often showcased a lot of flesh. She said that her parents will not be happy, the Huffington Post shares.

Although Small missed out on becoming Sansa in the HBO TV series, she has won various parts in other series and movies. Some of her bit roles in big projects include playing the younger Kathy H., Carey Mullligan’s character in “Never Let Me Go”. She also played the young Estella in the TV show “Great Expectations.” Another was playing support for Charlize Theron in “Snow White and the Huntsman.”

Looking back, Turner says that she had no idea what she was getting into. She was not aware of how big the phenomenal show would be. Turner also says that the most difficult thing for her is growing up amidst the lime light, Marie Claire notes.

It is not only Small who had a GOT missing-out story. Initially, Tamzin Merchant was also cast as the Mother of Dragons, but the viewers have Emilia Clarke instead. Moreso, Catelyn Stark was played by Jennifer Ehle, but was given last minute to Michele Fairley.
