Developing team from Stardock has recently released a fresh batch of information about the upcoming expansion of its “Galactic Civilizations III: Crusade” game. The upcoming expansion will focus on how players will push through the game after they have finally colonised Earth.

The mega-expansion of the said game will be giving players new tools for the continuation of their galactic conquests in the game. These new tools will include the likes of colony ships, Galactic Citizens, a Civ and ship builder and economic structures. Screenshots of these new additions can be seen in their official website (also see bottom of article for game’s video trailer).

The game’s new features

New features are added to the Crusade’s expansion. First is the Galactic Citizens, which acts as a new form of economic system in the game. This is where players decide on what job roles their citizens will have to perform. Some of the available job roles are scientists, engineers, diplomats, spies, commanders and generals.

Each Galactic Citizen specialisation that will be chosen by the player will have a corresponding set of abilities crucial in upcoming quests. Players must also take note that certain specialties will also help them to properly strategise their forces.

An example is using generals to make colonisation more victorious. In order to strengthen these generals, the scientists are used to ensure that weapons will be up to date. This method will replace the main game’s previous economic system of tinkering with sliders.

Furthermore, players will also have the option to create their own civilisation. This can be done by using the new Civilization Builder. This builder will let players choose from a number of presets and the massive pool of 10,000 user-created ships to create their own nation.

The abovementioned option will coincide perfectly with another incoming addition in the game. These additions will include the new ship parts and new ways to create ship for the player's Galactic Civilization. Players will get to experience new aesthetics and functionality of the ship they will be building.

The upcoming expansion synopsis that was taken from the Galactic Civilizations website states that the shield around Earth has been eliminated. But humanity has been anything but idle. “Furious that their attempts at diplomacy and goodwill were met with treachery and violence, Earth has turned to its most valuable asset: its people. From spies trained in espionage to soldiers ready to invade enemy planets, the galaxy is ready for a crusade.”

The “Galactic Civilization III: Crusade” expansion is due to be released sometime this March and will be available on Steam and GOG. The turn-based strategy game is playable through the Microsoft Windows platform.
