In-focus: the election
The Gruen team focuses its eyes on the showbusiness tactics applied by politicians for the upcoming federal election.
ABC1's hit show about advertising will be relaunched as The Gruen Nation, which will bring something new to the table. It will be comprised of 45-minute specials to be broadcasted during the election campaign.
Host Wil Anderson and regular guests Todd Sampson and Russel Howcroft , together with political insiders and campaign veterans, will be tackling each week's events.
"If the ABC is the national broadcaster, then Gruen Nation is the national bullshit detector," Anderson said.
According to the show's producer, Jon Casimir, the TV program will run an X-ray over the federal election, its advertising and all the other strategies political parties pull to lure voters.
"An election campaign is about showbusiness. But while everyone else will be busy discussing the business, at Gruen Nation we're only interested in the show," Casimir said in a statement.
Amanda Duthie, ABC TV's head of arts and entertainment, gave assurance that Gruen Nation will be just as funny and entertaining as its parent show.
"It will be an enlightening look at the political spin around this very important election," she said.
