A raging fire is heading to the town of Northcliffe in South West, WA. But before it could hit properties nearby, firefighters did their best to stop the flames. There were more than 150 of them who were still on a fire battle that started six days ago.

The team worked the whole night to stop the fire from the burning heavy fuel loads. It was a lightning last week that started the tragic incident. It went on until it has burned 19,000 hectares of bushland and forest.

Firefighters are on full alert and securely looking at the nearby communities. They're currently shoring up restraint lines to protect the surrounding areas. As much as 30,000 hectares or more are expected to be burned according to the Department of Environment and Conservation.

The Perth metropolitan area is currently covered with a thick blanket of smog that resulted from the fire. It will take about two days to clear the haze.

Murray Carter from the DEC said thicker smoke will continue to appear as there are still heavy fuel loads burning until now. Philip Thompson, director of the Lung Institute of WA, recommend people to stay indoors especially those with respiratory problems.

People suffering from chronic ailments must be more aware and should strictly follow the plan suggested by their physician. Individuals with unstable conditions should exercise a higher degree of caution.

He recommended the use of their puffers or aerosols to counteract the irritating effect of the smoke. If irritations on their airways persist, they must immediately see their doctor.

Firefighters estimate on putting out the fire will be finished at the end of the week.
