The world of “Final Fantasy XV” is already one of the largest in its franchise, as it is filled with long roads and numerous towns to explore. Nevertheless, game developer Square Enix is reportedly going to expand this via DLCs that will focus on other characters and open up previously locked locations.

The game’s director, Hajime Tabata, declared that he had more in store for the game in an interview with US Gamer. “I personally believe the approach to updating single-player games, as we are doing with this title, will continue on in the future as a new trend,” he said. He also acknowledged that some fans of the franchise might not welcome the change.

The announced expansion will allow players to learn more about the supporting characters -- Ignis, Prompto and Gladiolus. Not only will the stories surround them, but players will be given the opportunity to control them as well. But that is not all that is currently on the table for “Final Fantasy XV.”

The game is also expected to receive free updates beyond the paid DLC. These free updates will enhance and improve the game. Chapter 13 has been mentioned by several publications and is likely to be a point of the game that will experience the most initial changes. Tabata confirmed that the main goal of the expansion is to “relieve any unintentional stress to the player and add elements that will expand the breadth of gameplay.”

Nevertheless, another interview with Tabata that was posted in the latest issue of Famitsu (via DualShockers), confirmed that there is still more in store for “Final Fantasy XV.” The director promised that the game will continue to evolve as the months progress. And with the first official DLC already covering the other characters, the succeeding update might shed some light in previously locked locations.

As GamingBolt has explained, it is possible that Square Enix will expand the world of “Final Fantasy XV” by opening up various locations that were not originally easily accessible. The publication further discussed that while in the Cartanica train station, players can explore an entirely new location by exploiting a glitch in the game. Unexplored areas in Tenebrae, Pala and other locations are also part of the list.

All speculations are expected to be answered at Square Enix’s “New Year Special” for “Final Fantasy XV,” which will be held on Feb. 2 at 8:00 pm JST (10:00 pm ACT). The Active Time Report will feature both Tabata and marketing manager Akio Ofuji, and individuals can watch the same via YouTube.
