The recent info from the rumour mill has raised Roberto Martinez off his rocket. Amid all controversies involving team performance and management, Martinez is bombarded with a potential competitor in snagging James McCarthy, a popular midfielder to Arsenal; with even hopes that McCarthy shall lead Arsenal as their new captain.

McCarthy is not a stranger to those who have had the privilege of watching the fabled player on the field. His recent performance in the subsequent games has no doubt enshrined his potential as the wide and popular mid fielder with tremendous ball control and speed. His precision and ferocity is widely known for breaking formations and snagging those mishaps in team play and taking such mishaps as opportunities to provide the best assist or even strike right down to the goalie.

McCarthy who still has another four years under his contract is in no rush but that will indeed put pressure on Martinez to put the midfielder to his best performance. McCarthy is a prized midfielder for Martinez and that while the times as still early he hopes to put more on the midfielder to hone and develop more of his skills.

When pressed for a comment, Martinez is quick to shrug of the allegation; exclaiming "we are not a selling club." He also emphasized his overall feelings towards the idea of football as a sport and the value of their assets. However, he reiterated that McCarthy has the potential to become an Everton captain someday and those hopes do indeed echo well with the fans.

Considering their upcoming game, Martinez is still trying to shake off from their poor performance of a few selected games. He further claimed that the development of its team plays and individual skills are important. He hopes that McCarthy will find a long and permanent home in Everton.

According to a report on the Daily Mail, Gunners have been linked with a sixteen million pound transfer for James McCarthy for the Republic of Ireland but Martinez firmly believes that he will be a mainstay of the Everton for years to come.
