The title of “Die Hard 6” appears to have changed. The plot will focus on the origin story of the popular character. There will also be a flash forward that will show the veteran police officer and his life as an older man that will be contrasted with his younger self.

The title of the upcoming prequel movie about Bruce Willis’ iconic character is “McClane,” Deadline reports. Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura reportedly told Empire magazine that the title page of the script that they have submitted is the last name of the popular character.

John McClane is a police officer who first appeared in the 1988 film “Die Hard.” The film went on to become a big hit and many subsequent movies also went on to become big successes. The most recent movie from the franchise is the 2013 flick “A Good Day to Die Hard.”

The title of the upcoming film was supposed to be “Die Hard: Year One,” which underlines the fact that the plot will be about John McClane as a young man. Fans of the franchise will have to wait and see whether the name “McClane” gets accepted for the movie. The confirmation will come in the official announcement.

The format of the film will be something like the “The Godfather” sequel. The fans will get to see the life of a young John McClane in the flashbacks and the life of the older McClane in the flash forward. The origin story may explain how the character turned out the way he did.

“We want you to get invested in John McClane more than ever before… We are gonna explore John McClane in his twenties. But just as prominent is the 60-year-old version,” di Bonaventura said.

It is still unclear if Willis will be reprising his role. There have been some indications that the actor will be back once again, but there has been no official confirmation yet.
