Brisbane parks open for Australia Day
Authorities have announced that majority of the parks in Brisbane will be open for Australia Day festivities on Wednesday following the aftermath of the floods.
Council would like to thank the countless volunteers that have turned out in recent weeks to adopt a park ahead of Australia Day festivities. Prior to setting out for an Australia Day picnic, residents should refer to the list of open parks at www.brisbane.qld.gov.au as some parks that sustained significant flood damage remain closed.
While most parks have had power restored, some flood affected parks may be without lighting. Residents may wish to bring their own lights. Along with having a barbeque in the local park, residents can also attend a number of free Brisbane City Council events across the city, including Hamilton, Wynnum, Shorncliffe and Moorooka.
