IBO, IBF and WBA super middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin recently declared that he is ready to fight anyone next year.

Golovkin announced on Twitter that he plans on fighting anyone, “whether it’s Canelo [Alvarez] or a different opponent.” “GGG” is the mandatory challenger for Saul “Canelo” Alvarez’s WBC middleweight belt, but a fight between the two is not expected anytime soon after the governing body extended the latter’s deadline to negotiate with Golovkin.

According to Dan Ambrose of Boxing News 24, WBA “regular” middleweight champ Daniel Jacobs “would be an ideal opponent for Golovkin.”

“Daniel Jacobs would be an ideal opponent for Golovkin if it were possible to get Jacobs and his promoter Lou Dibella and adviser Al Haymon to agree to a fight against the Kazakhstan fighter,” Ambrose wrote.

Jacobs has solidified his status in boxing’s middleweight division after a remarkable first-round stoppage win over Peter Quillin on Sunday at the Barclays Centre in New York. Jacobs posted a challenge to the division’s big names, including the likes of Andy Lee, Billy Joe Saunders, Miguel Cotto and Alvarez. Interestingly, Jacobs left out Golovkin’s name, but according to “The Miracle Man,” he is not afraid of Golovkin.

“[Golovkin] is not someone who I fear,” Jacobs told Boxing Scene. “Obviously, when you’re dealing with a sport like this you wanna make sure you have the finances where it needs to be, in order for it to be such a big fight. I’m just making sure that I get in there and get compensated correctly.”

Golovkin only generated 150,000 in pay-per-view (PPV) buys against Lemieux in October. It was far from Alvarez’s fight against Cotto last month, which gained 900,000 PPV earnings, reports HBO’s Mark Taffet.

If Golovkin is ready to fight anyone, it would be wise for him to go against an opponent who could boost further his boxing’s status as a rising star. With Alvarez looking to cash in on his mandatory defence in September, Golovkin could face Jacobs in the meantime.
