It has been announced that “Better Call Saul” season 3 will observe Giancarlo Esposito reprising his role as Gus Fring from "Breaking Bad." However, how he will be introduced in the series and how he will meet Jimmy (if at all he does) remains a mystery.

Fans have already seen in “Breaking Bad” that Gus Fring owns quite a few businesses, including chicken restaurant Los Pollos Hermanos and industrial laundry facility Lavanderia Brillante, which he uses to front vast drug operations. Hence, Gus might be introduced as a businessman in the show’s prequel spinoff, as in the promo that announced Esposito as cast of the show.

Furthermore, Esposito hinted that the audience will witness a different side of Gus in “Better Call Saul” season 3. He said that Gus will be completely new, fresh and alive. (Read more on the link below.) This implies that Gus will be introduced as a businessman, and thereafter his journey to becoming a drug dealer will be shown.

Gus Fring’s connection with Jimmy

“Breaking Bad” showed that Gus Fring had a partner called Max (James Martinez), whose relationship with Gus was ambiguously romantic. Both of them go to meet Hector Salamanca (Mark Margolis) for a business deal where Max is murdered by Salamanca on behalf of Don Eladio Vuente (Steven Bauer), the leader of the popular drug cartel.

Gus wants revenge from Salamanca, as seen in “Breaking Bad.” Perhaps to revenge Max’s death, he works on setting up the largest drug empire. “It’s possible that in the process Gus drags Mike, a Salamanca enemy, (who is already acquainted with Hector’s nephews) and then Jimmy/Saul — who Mike reluctantly works with — into his universe,” according to Yahoo theory.

Gus and Jimmy (Bob Odenkirk) will meet somewhere in the story because in “Breaking Bad,” it is Saul who introduces Walter White (Bryan Cranston) and Jessi Pinkman (Aaron Paul) to Gus. This implies that he knows about Gus and his drug dealings. Perhaps, Gus will hire Jimmy to prepare legal documents in order to hide his illegal dealings.

Season 2 already shows that Jimmy is in trouble after being secretly recorded by Chuck. He will gradually turn into Saul Goodman, the criminal lawyer who deals with people who are most often guilty.

“Better Call Saul” season 3 will have more connections with “Breaking Bad.” Another character apart from Gus Fring will return, as revealed by the official Twitter handle of the show. (Read more on the link below.) The third season will premiere on April 10 at 10:00 p.m. ET on AMC in the US. The show is streamed on Stan in Australia.
