Australia's economy has boomed in the last decade, in fact, it was the first to recover from the recession that hit the world recently, according to economists. And because of this strong economic performance, Australia continues to attract overseas skilled workers to fill new positions which are becoming available on a regular basis.

According to the website National Visas, the economy has been converted from one which was dependent on manufacturing sometime ago to one which is now based upon the services sector.

"The services sector of Australia is the one which served as the engine room of the Australian economy. That is why this country is known for providing jobs for overseas workers," the site said.

According to labor data, of the over 11 million people available for work 75 per cent are employed by the services industry and 21.1 per cent by industry.

Meanwhile, the rate of unemployment in Australia increased from 4.2 per cent in 2008 to 5.7per cent in 2009, but according to experts, it will return to lower levels as the economy picks up after the worldwide recession.

As the rate of unemployment decreases, the working population will demand new services that will help them with their daily chores. In anticipation of this need, a new service-oriented website, which is banking on the legendary Aussie spirit to make a significant impact on communities, is offering a venue where residents can get and offer help.

MicroJobs.com.au, which believes in helping communities help themselves, allows Australians who need help in whatever task to post their specific task requirement, so that those who want to help can do so.

"MicroJobs.com.au is an effort to help the Aussie spirit to bloom and help local communities to become better places to live. People that surround you in your local community can be some of your best friends if you just have that opportunity to connect. Help a stranger to clean out their garage and they are no longer a stranger," according to its proponent Richard Ross.

Australians have been known for their unique idea of esprit de corps, and many have experienced this legendary Aussie spirit in their times of need.

Unlike other websites, in MicroJobs.com.au, users can ask for help even for a small job that needs to be done such as picking up the dry cleaning, cleaning out the garage or running to the shops.

"The possibilities for jobs are endless. Perhaps you need someone to do the grocery shopping but don't know who to ask? Maybe you need help to reorganise your wardrobe or perhaps clean out your garage. Ask these types of questions here and if there is someone nearby that can help then your problem is solved," according to the website.

There are two types of users of MicroJobs, the requesters and helpers. As defined in the website, a requester is a user who requests help in the form of an advertisement post describing the work required, while the helper is a user who quotes a price for the work and then if accepted by the requester will perform the required work. MicroJobs can cater for both types of users at the same time for a minimal fee.

"MicroJobs.com is a place for Australians to advertise location specific tasks that require someone in their local community to help them out. This allows real friendships to blossom and our communities to become better places," Ross said.
