Following a lot of fan backlash, “Arrow” Season 5 is set to introduce a villain who will be a “callback” to the first season of the show. Cast member Stephen Amell recently teased what the fans can expect to see next on the show.

[Spoiler alert]

Amell (Oliver Queen) attended the Wizard World Philadelphia and there he was asked about his TV series, Comic Book reports. At the event the actor teased that the new villain on the show is “really going to ground the show and take us back to some of the elements that we had in the earlier days before we introduced so many fantastical elements to the Arrowverse.”

The actor explained that the new villain is a “callback” to the first season in a lot of ways. He pointed out that such a character could only be introduced after a few seasons on the show.

Amell conceded that he doesn’t know much about what happens in “Arrow” Season 5, as he hasn’t had the opportunity to discuss with the writers about it. The information that he s currently able to share comes from a chat with Greg Berlanti, with whom he had dinner after he wrapped filming the TV series. The actor promised that he will have all the information with him next week.

A new vigilante will be introduced in the show in the next season, Amell teased. The actor only said that the new character is from the DC universe, but did not share any more details.

“Arrow” Season 5 is set to premiere by October this year. The cast members of the TV series include Emily Bett Rickards (Felicity Smoak), David Ramsey (John Diggle), Willa Holland (Thea Queen) and Paul Blackthorne (Quentin Lance). With the new villain not having any magical powers, the fans can once again look forward to some gritty action sequences on the show.
