Android 5.0 Lollipop update for Samsung Galaxy Note Edge and Samsung Galaxy Alpha is rumoured to arrive in the coming year. At present, the Samsung Galaxy S5 is the recent and major handset to receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop update.

Danny Dorrestejin, the founder of SamMobile has expressed through a tweet that Samsung Galaxy Note Edge Android 5.0 Lollipop update will begin in February 2015. This indicates that the unlocked Samsung Galaxy Note Edge handsets will first receive the new Android build. It will be followed by carrier editions as network providers are known to roll out updates a bit later in the U.S, states PhoneArena

As far as the Samsung Galaxy Alpha Android 5.0 Lollipop update is concerned, SamMobile's founder has also revealed on Twitter that the update would arrive in the first quarter of the coming year. Hence, PhoneArena claims that the Android 5.0 Lollipop should arrive for Galaxy Alpha by March.

The news about Lollipop update for Galaxy Note Edge and Galaxy Alpha has not been confirmed by Samsung. However, the official details on the new Android build for major Samsung handsets are going to arrive soon.

On Dec. 8, IBTimes had reported that Android Lollipop update will arrive for the Galaxy Note 4, the Galaxy S5 LTE-A, the Galaxy Note 3 and the Galaxy S4 handsets in early 2015. The news was revealed by Samsung but a Reuter's reporter based in South Korea. The reporter did not confirm the exact time frame and the countries that are poised to receive the update.

The tweet posted by Danny Dorrestejin, also states that the Android 5.0 for Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 3 will be available by first quarter of 2015. Even the Galaxy S4 GPE handsets are in line to receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop because Google Play Edition smartphones are known to receive new Android builds early compared to regular devices.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 users are currently receiving the official Android 5.0 Lollipop OTA update. As of this writing, the update is only available for Galaxy S5 owners in Europe and Asia. However, it is the first Samsung handset to be blessed with the Lollipop update.
