Coffee beans are seen in the roasting area at Sightglass, a coffee bar and roastery, in San Francisco, California May 8, 2013. The new generation of upscale coffee shops and roasters includes dozens of operators around the country. They are in a race to find rare and distinctive beans and hope to elevate one of the world's oldest and most popular drinks in the same way that craft beer brewers, boutique wineries and olive oil makers won fans by focusing on high-quality ingredients and production. American coffee brewer manufacturer Keurig is recalling over 7 million of its single- MINI Plus brewers due to burn risks. The company received reports that a number of the coffee brewing machines had spewed hot liquids on consumers, thus injuring dozens of users.

Keurig is recalling those sold in the United States and Canada between 2009 up until July 2014. The items were sold both online and in stores at approximately $100. The identification number of the recalled brewers starts with "31" printed on the bottom. The product comes in at least 14 various colours, has the name "KEURIG" on the front and the serial number appears on a white sticker on the base of each unit.

Keurig found from customer reports that the single-serve machine can overheat and spray water during brewing. About 200 consumer reports have been received by the company. All noted that hot liquid escaped from the brewer. About 90 reports indicated burn-related injuries.
