Authorities said a 16-year-old teenager started shooting in a cafeteria at Chardon High School on Monday 7:30 a.m. One student died, while four got injured before police captured the suspect.

The suspected gunman wasn't recognized right away because of his juvenile look according to Tim McKenna, Chief of Police at Chardon, during a news conference held in town.

The spokeswoman of the Federal Bureau of Investigation said police have thought of the suspect as one of the students in school.

A witness named Danny Komertz, 15, said to the Associated Press the suspect was considered an outcast in school. He saw the gunman pointing a gun to four students sharing one table at the cafeteria.

Students started running when the gunman fired a few shots, while one student attempted to hide under the table trying to protect his face.

The recent shooting was regarded the most horrible at Chardon High School according to the analysis conducted by the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence. It was the most awful considering the crime that happened at Cleveland school last 2007 wherein a 14-year-old kid murdered two instructors and two high school students.

The incident at Chardon school prompted someone to dial 911 at 7:38 a.m. Students scrambled around the campus trying to find a safe place to hide for about an hour prior to the police operation of clearing the scene and declaring school premises as safe.

Police identified the suspect as Daniel Parmertor. One female was identified from the four injured victims, while the other three were males. Two of them were sent to the MetroHealth Medical Center, while the other two were confined at the Hillcrest Hospital in Ohio.

Only one of the four victims went in a stable condition as for now. The rest were suffering from serious injury.
