Genoa City welcomes back one of its favourite residents, Michael Graziadei, who will reprise his role as Daniel Romalotti in CBS soap opera “The Young and the Restless.”

The 36-year old actor first appeared as Daniel, Phyllis’ son, in 2004. He exited the daytime TV drama in January 2013, when his character was said to pursue an art career in Georgia with his daughter, Lucy. Fans last saw him when he handled the transfer of his comatose mum, who was played by Michelle Stafford then, to a health facility.

Graziadei will be seen by fans on August 25, but his appearances will be limited, according to Entertainment Weekly. The two-time Daytime Emmy Awards nominee will play alongside the new Phyllis, Gina Tognoni. The actress, who assumed the role since 2014, took to Twitter to share her excitement. “My [s]on is coming [h]ome,” she wrote.

After leaving “Y&R” in 2013, Graziadei was cast as a series regular in the ABC drama “Westside.” Prior to that, he appeared as a guest star in various television series including, “NCIS,” “Criminal Minds,” “Castle,” “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” and “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” He also starred in “American Horror Story” and “The Secret Circle.” In the big screen, Graziadei was seen in “Boogeyman 2” and “Into the Blue 2: The Reef.”

The announcement of his return as Daniel comes on the heels of reports surfaced that the show’s casting director, Judy Blye Wilson, is leaving the show. In her personal Facebook account, Wilson wrote that it’s officially her last day at “The Young and the Restless,” according to a report by Celeb Dirty Laundry.

In her post, Wilson cleared that she made the decision weeks ago. “After thirty years of casting daytime, I feel I need to pause,” she continued. “I am not retiring, just stopping to catch my breath. I look forward to what the future brings.” Earlier, “Y&R” executive producer Jill Farren Phelps also left the daytime TV drama.

“The Young and the Restless” airs weekdays in the US on CBS. In Australia, “Y&R” is shown Mondays to Fridays at 12 p.m. on Foxtel’s Arena.
