Sony is not just going to watch as Samsung steals headlines with its without-a-doubt mind-blowing Samsung Galaxy S5. So the Xperia line seems all set for a top-notch launch at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in February. Codenamed "Sirius" as per the leak master @evleaks, the Xperia Z2, the Xperia Z1's successor, has already made rumour rounds under the code name "Avatar," boasting of high-end specs now allegedly confirmed by a source close to Android SAS.

The Sony Xperia Z2 is expected to be launched at the MWC in late February with a 5.2-inch 2,560 x 1,440 pixel resolution display (QHD, Quad HD or 2K) with 440 ppi, quad core Qualcomm SnapDragon 800 and not 805 SoC, 3 GB of RAM, 3,700 mAh battery and a 20.7 MP rear-facing camera.

Obviously, it is quite aa step-up compared to its predecessor, the Xperia Z1, but the main camera and CPU are going to be pretty much the same. A question still in need of answers is if the company has a design makeover in plan, since the large screen and huge battery may add a little bulk to an already sensational package. Other almost guaranteed features include the dust and water protection, a pre-loaded Android 4.4 KitKat and a Mobile Bravia Engine 3 with improved X-Reality.

Meanwhile, HTC has not announced details about the launch of its latest flagship handset but rumours have all fallen around February at the Mobile World Congress held annually in Barcelona. The HTC One was launched on Feb 19, 2013, a week before the Mobile World Congress 2013. The HTC M8 is expected to be out on a similar timeframe.

A lot of rumours have pointed that the HTC One Two or the M8 will have a Qualcomm SnapDragon 800 and a 5-inch 1,920 x 1,080 pixel display or 440 ppi. It was followed by an AnTuTu benchmarking score, revealing that the device will also have a 2 GB RAM. Other claims say that HTC will reduce internal storage to 16 GB but add microSD card support to models, possibly up to microSDXC 2 TB levels. The HTC One's new version also offers dual SIM, and with HTC One Max having Sense 5.5, it is expected that the HTC One Two or M8 will have Sense 6.0.
