Stan Lee is a legend who created some of the iconic characters and he is known for doing small roles like a cameo in movies based on Marvel comics. Fans expected that they would see Stan in the latest "X-Men: Days of Future Past," however he was absent.

Stan talks to "The Lead with Jake Trapper" on CNN and explains why he was absent from the latest "X-Men" movie.

The comic book creator revealed that he has never requested for a cameo in the movies.

"I love doing them, I'm incredibly happy when someone asks me to do a cameo, but I don't ask for them," says Stan.

"In fact, there are times that I don't get them. In the new X-Men movie, I don't have a cameo because it was shot somewhere in Europe and I wasn't able to go there."

He goes on to give two explanations as to why he skipped being a part of "X-Men: Days of Future Past."

The 91-year-old writer explained that probably they didn't want to give him the cameo as without his short role the movie will earn more money.

"Somebody watches the movie, and the movie ends, and the person says: 'Wow, I didn't see Stan's cameo. I must have missed it.' So what do they do? Right back to the box office, buy another ticket, and watch the movie again," says Stan.

Indeed, he has given a clever explanation to why he is missing in "X-Men: Days of the Future Past."

Meanwhile, the new mutant movie reached the no. 1 spot this weekend, reporting by Associated Press (via TIME).

"X-Men: Days of Future Past" is expected to earn $111 million over the long Memorial Day weekend.

According to Variety, the movie earned $302 million of which 119 countries contributed $171.1 million.

"X-Men: Days of Future Past" is the largest international opening movie for Fox.
