IVF recipient Aminah Hart went on to search for her anonymous sperm donor and the love story of her and the donor began twelve months ago. Now, the story has gone ahead as the sperm donor, Scott Andersen, has asked her to marry him, and they announced their engagement.

According to ABC, Aminah, Scott and their two-year-old daughter, Leila, went holidaying to Thailand. It was during their vacation that Australian Story published their love story as well as the story of Aminah's decision to go through in-vitro fertilisation.

Aminah had lost two of her sons to a rare genetic disorder after which she decided to go through with IVF. In 2010, the Victorian government made legislative changes and allowed single women to go through IVF. This change helped Aminah become a mother to a healthy baby. While choosing her sperm donors, she was provided with information of vital statistics, physical qualities, medical history and hobbies of three men.

The sperm donor that she chose described himself as "happy and healthy." The sperm donor, Scott, had mentioned that when he donated his sperm, he had agreed to the condition that both the recipient and offspring could contact him. He did not think that it would happen for many years. When Aminah and Scott's meeting was arranged, they fell in love.

After their love story was published, the two said that they were flooded with interview requests. They returned to Australia on Nov 10 and then announced their engagement to family and friends. Aminah said that they had discussed getting married before but had thought that it would not be for another five years.

During their holiday, Aminah was lost in thought about her second child, Louis, who had died due to a rare genetic disorder and would have turned 6 on Oct 31. When she was in her thoughts, Scott returned from a shopping run and reached out for her hand and asked her to marry him. He also gave her a ring from a shop in the village they were in.

Aminah said that they might be rushing it, but who knew what lies ahead? She continued that they both had a track record of marriages that ended. Scott said that he had five children from three women and she had three children by three men. Aminah said that this relationship of theirs just felt right and that they are a modern family.
