What Kate Moss', Amber Heard's Body Language During Model's Testimony Reveals: Expert

Kate Moss' expressions as she testified Wednesday during Johnny Depp's defamation trial against his ex-wife Amber Heard suggested that the model has nothing but warm feelings toward her ex-boyfriend, a body language expert has claimed.

The 48-year-old British model took the stand virtually from England to testify in the Fairfax, Virginia, trial, where she confirmed that she was in a relationship with Depp from 1994 to 1998.

Judi James, author of "Body Language Bible," examined Moss' body language and facial movements as she gave her testimony and suggested to the Daily Mail that the model lit up with "warmth" as she recalled the "memory" of her romance with the "Pirates of the Caribbean" star.

According to the body language expert, the right side of Moss' mouth curled up in a subtle smile when she said, "I do," after being asked if she knows Depp.

Analyzing the model's body language during her testimony, James suggested, "Kate gives the impression of being polite, smiling sweetly and apologetically when speaking over the lawyer and being interrupted by him."

Throughout her three-minute testimony, Moss appeared calm and "impassive, devoid of any signs of stress or anxiety," James claimed.

"Her testimony is brief and simple, as is her body language. For much of it, her face is impassive, her lips pulling together slightly after most of her answers," the expert continued. "Despite the fact that she is famously private, her blink rate and her shoulder angle look devoid of any signs of stress or anxiety."

Moss testified Wednesday that the rumor that Depp had pushed her down the stairs during their relationship was not true.

At this point, James claimed that Moss "becomes more animated at this point, seeming to be close to laughter as she says, 'He never pushed me or kicked me.'"

James also shared her analysis of Depp's body language and expressions while his ex-girlfriend gave her testimony, telling the outlet that the actor initially attempted to mask his joy by keeping his finger over his mouth but later let out a small smile.

"When the camera scans to him, Johnny pretty much retains his signature pose, sitting immobile with his index finger over his lips, masking or controlling his mouth expression," James said about Depp. "Although [his lawyer Camille] Vasquez sits smiling at the screen in what looks like an expression of warm delight."

On the other hand, James claimed that Heard's uncomfortable look throughout the testimony suggested that she felt "denial or irrelevance."

"When Kate is asked how long she and Johnny were a couple, [Heard's] head seems to turn from side to side in a gesture that could suggest denial or irrelevance," the expert claimed.

Moss was called in as a witness by Depp's team in response to testimony from Heard, who said on the stand that she thought about a rumor that the actor had pushed the model when the "Aquaman" star and her sister Whitney Heard Henriquez were in an alleged altercation with Depp near a set of stairs.

"She threw herself in the line of fire. She was trying to get Johnny to stop. Her back was to the staircase, and Johnny swings at her. I don’t hesitate and wait - I instantly think of Kate Moss and stairs," Heard said.

However, Moss testified Wednesday that there was a rainstorm while she and Depp were vacationing in Jamaica, and she accidentally slipped down a flight of stairs and injured her back.

"I screamed because I didn't know what happened to me and I was in pain. He came running back to help me and carried me to my room and got me medical attention," the model said under oath, People reported. "He never pushed me, kicked me or threw me down any stairs."

Depp is suing Heard over a 2018 op-ed in which she wrote about being a domestic abuse survivor. Depp claims that though the piece doesn't name him, it damaged his reputation and ruined his career.

Heard is countersuing him for $100 million, alleging that Depp launched a smear campaign against her to discredit her claims.

Closing arguments are set for Friday, after which the jury will begin deliberations.
