The Vampire Diaries is still on hiatus right now but the anticipation for its upcoming fourth season is growing leaps and bounds.

In line with this additional information from the main source itself, Julie Plec, the producer for Vampire Diaries, gave some interesting season 4 episode updates and news.

In an interview with TV Guide, Plec disclosed some interesting tidbits about the future of the show. People who already watched the ending for season 3 are aware that Elena is now a vampire; which means a whole lot of complications for the series.

Here are some of the interesting information that Plec shared during her interview:

On Elena's Transition:

Elena's vampire transition will be a very emotional and very complicated in the first episode, but Elena's future is pretty set. Everything has changed. Not necessarily how she feels about the boys (Damon and Stefan), but on who she is.

Caroline and Stefan's Relationship:

"You've seen little pockets of a friendship spark between them, and I see Caroline in the long run of the series becoming that important in Stefan's life" says Plec.

One of the most noticeable plot development in the series is the molding of Damon's character from being very selfish to being a reluctant hero as the series and storyline moves on. Plec has taken note of this interest and this is what she shared about Damon's character development:

"This is a reminder that Damon is a character that started in a very dark place, but with a lot of love and emotion brewing under him. All of our characters, including his own brother, had to witness his evolution as a person and he has done some really extraordinarily things, but he has also done them in the name of love, pain, abandonment, self-preservation, survival and family. He's going to keep evolving and Elena's feelings for him are going to continue to evolve." ended Plec in the same TV Guide post.
