As if the world is not filled enough with crazy news like "Judgment Day" on May 21, the U.S. Assistant Surgeon General Ali Khan on Thursday offered tips on how to survive in case of a zombie apocalypse.

Posting a the official Web site of the Centers for Disease Control, Khan said the public would be thankful of his advise when the scenario actually happens.

"There are all kinds of emergencies out there that we can prepare for. Take a zombie apocalypse for example," said Khan.

"You may laugh now, but when it happens you'll be happy you read this, and hey, maybe you'll even learn a thing or two about how to prepare for a real emergency," he added.

Although Khan's blog did not mention anything about the wide spread rumour circulating across the globe that the world will end on Saturday, May 21.

However, his post on an official government Web site, provides some examples of "the rise of zombies in pop culture... (giving) credence to the idea that a zombie apocalypse could happen."

Khan's blog offers some interesting points on how to survive in case of a zombie apocalypse, including emergency prepared, which the CDC has been promoting. The tips include having an emergency kit at every home which should have water, food and vital supplies, "to get you through the first couple of days before you can locate a zombie-free refugee camp."

"(Or in the event of a natural disaster, it will buy you some time until you are able to make your way to an evacuation shelter or utility lines are restored)."

The official added that it is important to plan an evacuation route or an escape plan, designate a meeting place amongst family members, and list an emergency contact in case of any eventuality.

But Khan promised that should "zombies did start roaming the streets, CDC would conduct an investigation much like any other disease outbreak."
