Film director James Mangold made film history on Monday by posting a tweaser or a tweet teaser of the new Marvel comics superhero movie The Wolverine on video sharing app Vine.

The six-second video showed swordplay, samurais, gun fights, love, adamantium claws and Wolverine, played by actor Hugh Jackman, could be viewed from the Web page Tweaser of Wolverine Movie on Tech Crunch

The release through the video sharing app owned by Twitter one of the first since film companies normally release the trailer first on its Web site, Apple's trailer page and YouTube. The record-holder, however, is FilmDistrict which promoted the Gerald Butler-Action thriller Olympus Has Fallen, on Vine. The movie opened over the weekend.

However, Tech Crunch said the film's 20-second trailer preview will be released on Tuesday and the full trailer on Wednesday.

The movie, which follows Wolverine's adventure in Japan and relationship with Mariko Yashida, a Yakuza member, is slated for commercial release on July 24.

Tech Crunch commented that the strategy appears to work for Wolverine because the tweaser can easily reach a large audience and because of the short clip, many people who may not necessarily be fans of the Wolverine movie, would not mind watching the short teaser unlike a longer normal movie trailer.

The portal said given the growing popularity of Vine, people could expect to see more tweasers not just for upcoming movies but also for sporting events and new video games.
